Get It Girl!

The past couple weeks have been consumed with finding and pinning great fall looks! One trend that is making it's mark is leather. Leather accents, leather tops and leather pants! I found this great inspiration piece for a great fall outfit.

Fall Looks!

I'm beyond ready for fall and I love fall clothes! If you have never been on the site Polyvore, you must check it out! It's a great site that pulls thousands of clothes and accessories from a variety of retailers and allows you to create your own outfits. I had a little fun with it and here are some of my creations!

Lamp Re-Vamp

I can now check another craft to-do off my list. I've had this lamp for a couple of years now and have been meaning to complete it's makeover. I wish I had a full before picture, but unfortunately I don't. The lamp base was originally a pistachio green, but I had already re painted it with mirror spray paint. The last thing to do was to re-do the shade.

What I used:
Burlap
A hot glue gun
Scissors
Decorative Accents
Decorative Ribbon

The Original Shade

Here it is, it's nothing special and it's not awful, just plain and needed a lift.

Since this lamp shade increases in width towards the bottom, position the shade towards the corner as pictured above.

Pull the corner enough to get a good start (above) and then tape it off like the below picture. This will help hold it in place while you finish wrapping the rest of the shade.

Use your hot glue gun to glue down the fabric around the shade.

Fold and glue down the excess fabric around the top and bottom of the shade. This does not have to be perfect, you could drive yourself crazy trying!

I found these "Spare-Parts" that I had from a previous project and used them to accentuate my seam.

To top it off I got this "rose" ribbon at Hobby Lobby and lined the top and bottom of the shade.

All done! It's a little girly, but works for me. Be inspired and create!

Maxx Finds

I would have to say T.J. Maxx is one of my favorite stores. I might go as far as saying it is my favorite, although I don't know if I can boot out Hobby Lobby. I think most of my house is from T.J. Maxx. I love the treasure hunting involved and you always get unique one of a kind items! If you have one or a Home Goods Store and don't visit frequently I suggest you do soon! Here are some of my recent finds!

The Finds
I found the most adorable books! They are perfect for decorations, but are also great classics. I got Jane Eyre, Oliver Twist and Sense and Sensibility. I also got this mirrored lantern, which I put hydrangeas in.

This white ceramic owl vase was a steal! This large vase was only $14.99, can't beat that.

I got these mirrored glass globes, all at different heights and the most expensive one was $7.99!

I am very picky when it comes to decorative pillows and drapes. I also don't like spending an arm and a leg for them. I love this floral print and all the colors it consists of.
